Teaching

Enthusiasm, inclusion, exploration, and high standards are cornerstones of Dr. Whiting’s teaching.

Dr. Whiting strives to foster an environment where students feel empowered to reach their highest potential and to take advantage of opportunities to further their artistic and scholarly pursuits.

His students achieve their personal and professional goals and deepen their passion for their art through persistent practice and application of their musical skills. For Drew, the goal of his teaching is for students to hone their musical skills, and learn and apply pedagogical concepts so that they may continue to develop their music artistry long after they have left his tutelage.

Study with Dr. Whiting at UW Oshkosh

Dr. Whiting teaches in the Music Department at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. They offer a wide range of degrees, courses, and ensembles so their students can gain a wide range of skills and experiences. You can pursue traditional undergraduate music degrees in performance and music education, as well as innovative degrees in audio production and music business. UWO faculty are all active musicians and dedicated educators who want to see you thrive. Also, UWO is an affordable institution to pursue your music degree. Their tuition is much lower than the national average, as well as the cost of living.

While Oshkosh is not the same as a big city like Chicago or New York City, they still have a flourishing music scene where you can catch live music every night of the week. From orchestras to jazz jams, this community embraces students from UWO and affords them opportunities that they would not find everywhere, especially being a young musician. This is a welcoming musical community where you can grow inside and outside the walls of academia.
